In the underbelly of lower Manhattan, Frannie Avery (Meg Ryan), a reserved English professor, becomes obsessed after seeing more than she should of an impassioned couple. After the young woman turns up dead, Frannie is questioned by a homicide detective (Mark Ruffalo), who draws her into a liberating but disturbing erotic encounter. As the body count rises, familiar suspects begin to emerge. Written and directed by Jane Campion (The Piano, The Power of the Dog).

"In the Cut is masterful in its suggestion of the ambient, omnipresent air of sexual threat that exists in traditional heterosexual dynamics."
"I still consider this the best (which also means the sexiest) Campion feature since The Piano, featuring Meg Ryan's finest performance to date and an impressive one by Mark Ruffalo."
This film is part of the After Hours series.
