The Band You Know, the Story You Don't
By JBFC Marketing Volunteer Dotty Battel
All you Fab Four fans out there—you definitely are going to want to see one of our exclusive Westchester screenings (Sept 15-22) of Ron Howard’s highly anticipated doc about the band’s phenomenal early years, The Beatles: Eight Days a Week–The Touring Years. Produced with the full cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Olivia Harrison, the film will focus on their journey from the days at The Cavern Club in Liverpool to their final concert at Candlestick Park in 1966. Just watch Howard himself talk about the film in this recent interview on The Today Show (and check out his cap!):
Carefully balancing rare vintage footage of electrifying performances (some of which has never been seen before!) with a wealth of interviews, Howard explores the band’s inner workings, how they made decisions, related to each other, and their unique musical gifts, to tell the tale of these four young men whose “impact on popular culture and the human experience cannot be exaggerated Learn More.” (Ron Howard)
Were any of you lucky enough to attend their Shea Stadium concert on August 15, 1965? It happened to be the first rock concert staged in a stadium in front of more than 55,000 fans. The recording of that event has been totally remastered, and according to someone who worked on the restoration, it now “looks better than Woodstock, Gimme Shelter, Monterey Pop. It really does…It’s stunning.” (Ron Furmanek)
And here’s the best part—you can only see this original footage of the Shea Stadium concert at a movie theater since it will not be part of the online release. So whether you were there or not, don’t miss your chance to see it here because, as Howard said “….you’re going to actually feel like you’re somewhere in the Sixties, seeing what it was like to be there, feeling it, hearing it.”
The Beatles: Eight Days a Week—The Touring Years is showing at the Burns from Sept. 15-22 as a Westchester Exclusive. Tickets are on sale now!
