Former JBFC Student nominated for Emmy Award!
This is a post by  Aaron Mace, JBFC Senior Faculty / Program and Curriculum Developer
Tonight one of our most exceptional former students is being honored by the Television Academy for the 36th College Television Awards. More commonly known as an Emmy. Rachael Lewis-Krisky was part of the team on the film, Fighter by Nature (trailer featured below), which is one of this year’s nominees.
But before she went off into the real world to make films, Rachael was a Media Arts Lab student! She participated in a documentary course that matched high school students with amazing senior citizens to tell their stories. Her subject was Robert Bernstein, the former president of Random House for 25 years who also founded and organization that evolved into Human Rights Watch. Along with her group, she crafted an extraordinary short film that captured Mr. Bernstein’s amazing life and caring personality. Watch it here!
Before she left to attend Ithaca College, Rachael started working at the Media Arts Lab as a teaching assistant the very first semester the Lab was open, Spring 2009. She also continued while at college for four summers to pass on her knowledge and experience to campers in our Summer @ the Lab camp program. While in college she got an internship at the amazing WNYC show, Studio360, and discovered a passion for telling stories through radio.
Congratulations to Rachael and good luck tonight!
