Filmcraft Studio (High School)

After-School Course

Fall 2026

Ready to take your filmmaking further? Filmcraft Studio is the next step for students who have completed Filmcraft 101 (High School) and want to keep creating, experimenting, and refining their craft. Designed as a repeatable studio experience, this course invites returning filmmakers to develop new projects each semester while deepening their technical skills and creative voice.

In this hands-on, project-driven class, students will move beyond the basics to focus on intentional storytelling, advanced camera and lighting techniques, and more sophisticated editing workflows. Working in small teams and supported by an instructor-mentor, students will pitch ideas, solve creative challenges, and bring original films from concept to screen. Each session offers fresh prompts, new constraints, and expanded creative freedom—making it a course students can take again and again.

Throughout the program, students will produce at least one fully realized short film and have the opportunity to experiment across genres and roles. The course culminates in a celebratory screening for family and friends, highlighting each student’s growth and creative evolution.

Course Goals:

Build on the foundations of Filmcraft 101 (High School) with more advanced camera work, lighting design, sound, and editing techniques.

  3. Create with Intention
Develop original projects from idea to completion, learning how to plan, adapt, and problem-solve throughout the filmmaking process.

  4. Collaborate Like a Filmmaker
Work in rotating creative roles within a supportive studio environment that mirrors real-world film production.

  5. Grow Through Practice
Return semester after semester to challenge yourself, take creative risks, and build a portfolio of original work over time.
