JBFC Mixtapes, Vol. 20: Hooray for Hollywood
JBFC Mixtapes is an initiative from the Burns to highlight the music—from soundtracks to scores—that makes the cinematic experience so special. Vol. 20 comes to us from David Schwartz, former chief curator of the Museum of the Moving Image and host of the JBFC’s upcoming film club “Hooray for Hollywood: Sunday Mornings with David Schwartz.” Kicking off Jan. 19, 2020, this new monthly club brings the classics back to life on the big screen—all in 35mm prints!—accompanied by introductions and discussions with leading critics, film historians, and programmers.
As for his inspiration, David adds: “I thought it might be fun to make a playlist of songs that won Oscars for Best Song in the 1930’s-1950’s.” On that note, listen to David’s hand-crafted JBFC Mixtape below—or save it on Spotify to listen offline later—for a sneak preview of what’s in store for Hooray for Hollywood!
Hooray for Hollywood meets once a month for six months (Jan. 19, Feb. 16, Mar. 29, Apr. 26, May 10 & Jun. 21). All films begin at 9:30 am. Purchase your six-month club subscription today!
