Cinemania Student Critic Review: Little Women

Little Women is a fantastic film portraying the journeys of four very determined girls as they grow into women and their perseverance to take control of their destinies. First off there’s Beth, the sweet and quiet girl who uses the keys of a piano as her voice. Then there’s Meg, the charismatic lady who dreams of becoming a rich and famous actress. Next we meet Amy, an aspiring painter who is tired of standing in the shadows of her older sister Jo. Jo is the fierce writer unafraid to speak her mind even at the cost of her dignity. This film shows the strong bonds that sisters can maintain through love and death and pretty much everything in between. Little Women has a very modern feel to it even though it takes place shortly after the Civil War. The acting is so realistic that the viewer begins to feel very immersed in the movie that they believe it’s happening right in front of them. Greta Gerwig’s interpretation of Louisa May Alcott’s popular book is the perfect film resulting in a witty story for all ages.
