Meek's Cutoff

With an ensemble cast led by Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) featuring Bruce Greenwood, Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan and more, this stunning Western from director Kelly Reichardt (The Mastermind) charts the ill-fated journey of a group of settlers who hire mountain man Stephen Meek to guide them over the Cascade Mountains on the Oregon Trail. Claiming to know a shortcut, Meek leads the group on an unmarked path across the high plain desert. Over the coming days, lost in the heat, the settlers face hunger, thirst and a lack of faith in each person’s instincts for survival.

"In this quiet, beautiful and terrifying fable about a group of lost pioneers, Reichardt combines epic ambition with a focus on intimate, personal detail."
Andrew O'Hehir, Salon
"Imagine a collaboration between John Ford and Wallace Stevens and you might get a sense of what Kelly Reichardt pulls off here: a sincere re-creation of the pioneer experience, brought to life through careful, often unexpected detail."
Ben Sachs, Chicago Reader
